People have various reasons for moving to other countries, whether temporarily or permanently. You may want to study, work or become a citizen of another country.
Whatever your reason, you need to undergo the legal process of immigration.
Some countries may allow for easier immigration or even grant citizenship for certain classes of people like scientists, pro athletes and entrepreneurs. Many countries that have low population growth also encourage mass immigration and offer citizenship to qualified persons.
On the other hand, many rich industrialized countries have strict immigration policies intended to restrict the influx of foreign nationals who want to become permanent residents or citizens.
Know about the language barriers
The minimum requirements for immigration vary depending on the country of origin and the country of destination.
For instance, Canada migration from the UAE requires passing language proficiency tests either in English or French, or both. For many permanent and non-native residents of UAE, this will not be much of a problem.
Out of the more than 10 million residents of UAE, only about 1.4 million are native residents. The rest are expatriates who know how to speak English either as their native language or as their second language. About 84% of the population in the country comprises expatriates.
Although Arabic is the official language in the country, English is the most common foreign language used because UAE is a former British colony. Even if you are a natural-born citizen of the country, it is likely that you are knowledgeable about the English language.
Be clear about your purpose
Immigrating to a new country is very different from merely visiting as a tourist. If you are planning to migrate to Canada, you should be clear of what exactly is your purpose.
Are you planning to study advanced courses in one of the universities or has a university already accepted your application? Do you want to find a new career or perhaps you have already found one but still need to get your papers processed?
Are you migrating because you have found your soulmate in Canada? Do you have relatives in Canada waiting for you? Are you migrating because you simply want a change of environment?
Having a clear purpose in mind is crucial in your Canada visa application process. You must be able to justify why you should be granted a visa. Since UAE citizens enjoy wide range of privileges like zero personal income tax and high per capita income, there seem to be very few reasons to migrate elsewhere.
Decide on what to do with your assets
If you have already decided to migrate to Canada, you need to be organized and take care of possible loose ends. For instance, if you have real estate properties or a business and other immovable assets in the UAE, you may either sell them or hire someone to manage them for you. Of course, donating them to someone is also an option.
Whatever your decision you make about your assets in the UAE, it will take a couple of legal procedures. Whether you liquidate your assets or donate them, you need to consult a lawyer to have the proper documentation work done.
Know the qualifications for permanent residency
Canada has a point system used to assess the suitability of applicants for permanent residency status. The criteria include skills or expertise in certain fields like medicine, educational attainment, age, job experience, savings and whether or not you have relatives who are Canadian citizens.
You have better chances of being granted a permanent residency visa if you have family members already residing in Canada as citizens. Skilled workers who have jobs waiting for them in Canada also have almost 100% chance of visa approval.
Prepare the documents and apply
After doing a self-assessment or asking advice from a visa consultancy firm, you should prepare all the necessary documents like your passport, bank records, employment certificates, job offer letter or contract, university acceptance, etc.
If you want to have a convenient visa application, you should hire a professional immigration consultancy company. They can help you process your documents efficiently, and ensure that you qualify whatever your reasons may be for wanting to make Canada your new home.
